The Evangelical Women Alliance (EWA) is the Women Commission of Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK). EWA, as a Commission is cognizant of our ethnic, cultural and religious diversity; recognizes the grave political, economic, social challenges, injustices, inequalities and biases across gender; is desirous to see all communities in Kenya live in peace and unity as one people; and is aware of the many drivers of the challenges we face; including: bad leadership and unaccountable governance, retrogressive cultural practices, poverty, health, peace building and relationship with God.
The Commission acknowledges that the task of transforming society is enormous, the members do realize that whenever there is a crisis in the nation, women, youth and children become victims of the resulting violence. Nevertheless, they have purposed to take up the challenge of transforming the nation.
The commission was thus founded in the year 2016 to mobilize women and provide a platform for them to interact and hold robust engagements on matters that are of national and community concern. It was also formed to provide a Social, Spiritual and Economic Development Network as part of the National Transformation and Development agenda.
EWA organized a two-day national prayer event targeting over 200 Christian Women Leaders from across the country on the 25th and 26th of February 2022.
1. Strengthen Evangelical Women Alliance and set in place mechanisms for networking in promoting peaceful 2022 elections.
2. Create a critical mass of women champions of peace across the nation of Kenya.
3. Promote networking and collaboration for women’s participation in community transformation at County level.
The two-day National prayer meeting mobilized about 180 Women Leaders from 26 counties in Kenya namely:
